Try Movie night. One button runs three actions.

What it does

Build a button once. Press it to run the whole routine.

Each of your buttons runs a list of actions: open an app, switch input, set the volume, change the picture mode, type text, turn the screen off or wait a moment. Keep up to twelve. Touch and hold to edit, and drag one onto another to swap them.

Turn the volume down without unlocking your phone.

A Live Activity puts power, volume, mute and play and pause on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island. Control Centre and the lock screen also get a TV Power control and a TV Button control that you point at any of your buttons.

Say it, and the TV does it.

Siri and Shortcuts learn your TV's apps, its inputs and the names of your buttons. Ask for the volume, an app, an input or a whole routine, and run it from the Shortcuts app or an automation too.

  • A touchpad with a scroll strip, or an arrow pad that repeats when you hold it
  • A keyboard that types into the TV's own text fields
  • Your TV's real app logos on your buttons, even while it is off
  • Power on from your phone with Wake-on-LAN
  • Side volume buttons that change the TV's volume while the remote is open
  • Made for iPhone and iPad

Set up in four steps

Most people are controlling the TV within a minute.

Full setup guide

  1. Join the same Wi-Fi.

Switch the TV on, and connect your iPhone or iPad to the same Wi-Fi network as the TV.

  2. Tap Find TVs.

Allow Local Network access when iOS asks. Telly Remote only uses it to find and control your TV.

  3. Accept on the TV.

Choose your TV, then select Accept on its screen using the TV's own remote. You only do this once for each TV.

  4. Optional: switch on from your phone.

Turn on TV On With Mobile in the TV's settings, so the app can wake it from standby.

Collects nothing

Telly Remote talks to your TV over your own Wi-Fi. Only the Watch panel goes online, and it sends no personal information.

  • No accounts
  • No analytics
  • No ads
  • TV control stays on your Wi-Fi

Questions

Which TVs does it work with?

LG TVs and projectors that run webOS, CineBeam projectors included, and Samsung Smart TVs. The TV and your phone must be on the same Wi-Fi network. If yours is not found, the support page lists what to check.

Does it work away from home?

No. Telly Remote talks to the TV directly over your local Wi-Fi, so your phone has to be on the same network as the TV. That is also why controlling your TV never leaves your network.

Why does it ask for Local Network access?

iOS asks before any app looks for devices on your Wi-Fi. Telly Remote uses it only to find your TV and send it commands. Without it the app cannot see the TV.

Can it switch my TV on?

Yes, if the TV allows it. Turn on TV On With Mobile in the TV's settings (Samsung calls it Power On with Mobile). The TV must be in standby, not switched off at the wall.

Do I need an account or a subscription?

No. It costs AU$4.99 once in Australia, and the price in other countries is set by the App Store. There are no accounts, subscriptions, ads or in-app purchases.

Which iPhones and iPads does it support?

Any iPhone or iPad running iOS 26 or later.

Is it made by LG or Samsung?

No. Telly Remote is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by LG Electronics or Samsung Electronics. LG, webOS and CineBeam are trademarks of LG Electronics, and Samsung is a trademark of Samsung Electronics.
